Once being signed to Atkins Management, Dan Walton took to the studio and created a 4 tracked EP, 'Museum'. Working alongside friend and producer, Adam Hodges, work began in February 2016.
Dan Walton is a singer-songwriter drawing on a wide pallet of influences from PJ Harvey and Elvis Costello, to the lush harmonies of Fleetwood Mac. Dan’s unique... brand of alternative rock is showcased on his debut album, ‘The State In Which We Find Ourselves’, released on digital platforms 26th May 2017.
Following on from a busy 2016, which included assembling a compilation in aid of Musicians Without Borders and the release of his BBC-Introducing-featured EP, Museum, Walton continues to explore themes of dystopia, humanity and the modern world, accumulating in a deeply personal collection of atmospheric songs. Echoing the lyrics, Dan produces sonic landscapes of searing guitar lines and haunting drums, always accented with his unique vocal delivery.
For this project, Dan recruited musicians from around the south-west including Ten Tombs’ Jack Quance, Dom Watton and Jamie Cairney as well as Anthony Grant (King Solomon), Mike Smith (PJ Harvey, Gorillaz, Blur) and regular collaborator, Lucy Gray. Mastering was handled Jon Astley (The Who, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones).
To mark the release of the album, Dan held a launch night at The Frog and Fiddle Cheltenham on 22/05/17 with a stellar lineup of special guests including Bobby Scaife, Fawner and Jack Cooper. As with all of his live performances, Dan was ably supported by his backing band ‘The Redeemers’.
